Oh my, oh my, oh my...
We have less than one month until our due date.
Saturday was the 9th, and what better way to celebrate than birthing classes?!
Our crazy schedules left us with the one-day, all-day option. Dads were in charge of introducing themselves and their wives and telling of some pregnancy highlights. Jeff's highlight?- "Getting to see him at ultrasounds- pretty neat." :)
We learned about the stages of labor, watched videos, held fistfuls of ice and practiced breathing and coaching through pretend contractions, learned about pain management and took a tour of the birthing center. My favorite part had to be massaging each other's backs with racket balls. Aaaah...
Some funny parts?- The instructor told us we were going to watch an animation about the stages of childbirth. Their was some panic coming from the dad next to me when the animation turned to live footage. Also, my sweet Jeff got distracted with the racket balls- curious to see if they would bounce off his forehead. Hey...it was a long day.
Today I am 36 weeks pregnant, and now seeing the Doc every week. At my appointment earlier today I was "checked" for the first time.
Doctor Calvert got a surprised look and right away explained she felt his head and explained just how low he was. She felt his head! I asked her if that meant he had "dropped" and she said if he were any lower, he'd be on his way out...!
Needless to say, those breathing exercises came in handy today (ouch).
So that explains the lower back pain and having to use the bathroom every 2 hours round the clock.
:)
I left the office with a burst of energy and couldn't wait to tell Jeff. Our son is going to be here soon.
I am excited to hold him,
and terrified of labor.
Here we go...
