Baby showers and crew socks

At the beginning of May I was treated to 2 baby showers.

First was a shower from our ward, thrown by the awesome spunky mother of 3 (soon to be 4), Tania. She humored my ever-present craving of chips and salsa and, it being Cinco de Mayo, set up a taco feast. I was so humbled by the women that came to celebrate with me despite the fact that I have been absent at so many ward activities lately. Tania asked them to write down their advice for the mother-to-be.
Just a few of my favorite words from my wise mothers:

Enjoy your quiet time- even in the middle of the night- reflect on what a sweet blessing you have been blessed with. Time passes so quick- enjoy each joy and challenge. Before you know it he will be grown! Be sure to take the baby to visit Grandma and Grandpa often and don't be afraid to ask them to babysit. New parents need a break now and then. :)

First of all- trust your instincts. You have been blessed with divine nurturing capabilities and through the help of the spirit you will be guided. On a practical note- never leave Costco without a deli chicken- for good and instant meals! Though you will have many things to do- take time- real time with your baby- moments that are slow and unhurried.

The next day, my new store manager hosted a baby shower at her home. Mary Ellen is a wonderful lady. She has such a kind heart and I so admire her leadership and overall love of life. I couldn't ask for a better boss. She has made needing to work through this pregnancy as stress-free as possible.
Her sweet husband and daughter cooked up an incredible fajita dinner. We sat filling our stomachs, laughing about which of my coworkers would and WOULD NOT be allowed to drive me to the hospital if my water broke, and opened the sweetest little baby gifts.
Check it out- can you see Daddy and baby boy in matching crew socks and tennis shorts?

Jeff loved these. I see some really cute pictures in the future. :)
