L.O.V.E.

Valentine's Day weekend started out with reading some cute cards at my beloved Target store. One: A cartoon of a sock saying "I was always lost before I found you"... Another: A snapshot of a couple from behind sharing ipod headphones. Below it read "ilove". Love is so fun and I am all for soaking up and celebrating the mushy holiday. This year I wrote individual valentines to my 5 siblings and to Mom and Dad. I'm glad I followed that prompting because I was able to sit and think of what I appreciate about each of them. And let me tell ya- there's a bunch. :)

Friday, I stopped by Nik's goodie-making party before work. My mom in her apron, and sugar cookies and frosting spread out on the table is a scene that never gets old. We spent hours doing this growing up- and now there are new little ones starting to enjoy it too. Although while I was there, Reece and Oliver spent most of their time hanging out together eating fish crackers (and sharing with Max too...).

P.S. Nik officially started her blog, http://www.oliverbluephotography.blogspot.com. More pictures from the goodie-fest are there.

On Valentine's Day, I came home to one of my very favorite treats in the fridge.

Nothin' like a carrot cake to say, "I love you Lindsey."
See...like I said, Love is so fun. :)

We worked opposite schedules so I was able to pop in 'Ramona and Beezus' and finish my project for my man.

My heart's a full one.
Happy Valentine's Day to my favorite person in the world, my best friend.
I love you Mr. Rice...
Lots.

The Tortoise and the Hare

Yesterday I took a little trip to the vet with our only 'little one'- Gus the turtle. Oh how we love this little guy.

His beak had become really overgrown and he couldn't hide in his shell too well anymore. Mom and I attempted to file it down a couple weeks ago but his head is way too strong and he wasn't having it.

After talking to the vet yesterday she told me she would have to sedate him. Sad. So he got a little shot and we sat out in the waiting room waiting for him to get "sleepy".

So I sat there with Gus all wrapped up in a blanket while he drifted off. Meanwhile, a big lizard came in with an emergency so we were out there for about an hour. I just sat there with my bottom lip out holding his limp little paw. It was pathetic. I'm going to have to toughen up or Jeff will have to take our human little ones to all their Doctor's appointments.

Cute story-
While we were waiting a lady came in with something wrapped up in a huge blanket. We started to chat and she told me it was a bunny. So naturally we joked about the tortoise and the hare- except this turtle was fully sedated and that rabbit had an amputated foot...

:)

Gus left with a handsome new beak and a new diet plan.
