Let It Snow

(The first day of snow. We now have a LOT more!)

The holidays have officially arrived! The first snow of 2010 came on Sunday, November 24th (while we were at church). Even our 17-year-old Sunday school class was too excited to focus. But who can blame 'em? It is so, so pretty. :)

It is Wednesday today, the day before Thanksgiving. I had a dentist appointment this morning and decided to walk there instead of risking it in a car. On the way there I found myself in the fourth grade, in Idaho, walking to Iona Elementary School in my snow gear- and smiled. :) I still remember every step of that walk, and the huge rack on the wall at school that was covered with all our puffy coats and 'bibs'. :)
Oh to be a kid again. :) I got in one of those moods lastnight- where I start feeling worried about school, the future, when the heck we're going to start a family... legitimate stuff. But, as I was walking and thinking of how different life is now, I remembered that despite the everyday anxieties and trials that creep in, I am grateful for my adult life, the hubby I get to cozy up next to, and the family I get to share Thanksgiving dinner with. And what I read in my scriptures helped too- "Press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men"- followed by the phrase "This is the way." I know we will be taken care of if we just follow His way.

Now- on to my baking list for the day: Pumpkin cheesecake topped with whipped cream, candied pecans, and caramel sauce- and cranberry cinnamon chip bars. Mmm. :)

Work, hockey, and turkey

Aah, lately this blog has been like those I get frustrated with- another week and no new posts?! Thanks Mom for sweetly reminding me that I need to get back on the ball. :) I'm so anxious to share my pictures and thoughts from a recent trip to Salt Lake City to see family and attend General Conference. It was full of good memories. Maybe that will be my Sunday project tomorrow between visiting teaching and making dinner.
I just accepted a (very) temporary promotion at work for the holidays. Next week I start 40 hour weeks at Cold Water Creek as a sales lead. I am nervous about all the time away from home, but overall excited for the experience.
Jeff and I had a date night tonight- a Seattle Thunderbirds hockey game at the ShoWare Center in Kent. Always fun. Especially this time because after the game was a "turkeyshoot." All ladies over 18 got the chance to shoot the puck to win a free turkey. Lots of ladies won turkeys but I was not one of them. After I shot and missed, I looked up to Jeff making the "so close" gesture. He was proud anyway. Haha.
I am thankful Thanksgiving is this week!
